Bringing another summer drink to the table today. It is quick, simple and so fresh. A drink so full of flavor, this smoothie is going to be one drink your kids will ask for every single day! So, lets sip on some Mango Papaya Smoothie.
The summers are finally in full swing here in San Diego and with the rising tempratures, i am reaching for a glass of cold something every now and then. In India, summers are the official season for mango binging and i miss that here. Though we do get the Mexican mango variety and sometimes a few in the Indian stores, i miss the bounty which we used to get in the farmer’s market in India. Mango was my only dessert during the entire season and me and my sister would usually fight over the last slice of mango every single day ! Ah, such precious memories 🙂
Mango Pulp
Just yesterday morning, i made my weekly trip to the Indian store and got a few tins of canned mango pulp. I had no plans set out for them but i guess the nostalgia of missing Indian summers made me pick them up 🙂 When i came home, my husband excitedly asked me to prepare him some Mango Lassi (Mango flavored yogurt drink).
North Indians have this love for their lassis which goes a really long way and my husband is one such person. I quickly reached out for the yogurt from the refrigerator, blitzed in some mango pulp, a little water and the lassi was done ! Usually i never make lassis for myself but today i took a few sips too and it was just soooo refreshing!
I instantly knew i was going to experiment with mango drinks this time 🙂
With a few cans, i would be preparing my favorites – Mango Lemon Cheesecake, Mango Tres Leches and Mango parfait for friends in the coming days. Now, to continue with my Mango drink promise, i decided to begin my morning on a sweet note. Since i make smoothies everyday, i thought it would be perfect to incorporate mangoes in it !Check out the recipe below !
Mango Papaya Smoothie with coconut water
Mango Papaya Smoothie
Ingredients
- mango chunks- 1 cup
- papaya chunks- 1.5 cups
- coconut water (you can also use coconut milk for a rich taste)- 1 cup
- carrots- 1/2 cup
- chia seeds-1 tsp
- 4-5 ice cubes
Note: You can also use frozen fruits here. In this case, omit the ice cubes and adjust the amount of coconut water instead.
Method
Blend all the ingredients except Chia seeds together till smooth. Sprinkle Chia on top and enjoy cold.
You may also add a little honey on top in case the smoothie feels less sweet.
Now this is one Mangolicious Treat ! Carrots, mangoes and Papaya all lend this gorgeous color to the smoothie and me being a person who loves dramatic colored food, loves this Yellow ! The coconut water brings a new character to the smoothie and enhances the nutritional profile of the drink. Feel free to experiment with green tea or coconut milk, almond milk etc for a variation !
yumm nothing is like kesar mangos!
Indeed !
