Summers are starting to set here in San Diego and we saw a sudden rise in the temperature when it touched 95F a week back. It was suddenly hot and i needed a cold drink to bring the heat down and get my spirits going high. Fetched out some pantry staples and blended myself this soothing iced coffee ! This iced coffee is so good that it can easily give the big coffee houses here, a run for their money π
I am a coffee person. I like my coffee intense, dark roasted and black. I usually never experiment around coffee much (except for the occasional baking with coffee) as i think somethings are best enjoyed pure! My husband, on the other hand, loves his Mocha, Frappes and other fancy coffee stuff. He would usually order for an iced coffee during summers and i would steal a sip or two from it. Over the last 2 years, i have sipped from many of his iced coffees and i think i am finally getting open to the idea of experimenting with my coffees too π
Last week, we saw a hot spin on the otherwise soothing weather here in California and it was unbearably hot in the noon. I decided to make something cold and ideas started floating in my head. Initially i was inclined to go the Indian route and make a Mango Lassi or a Jaljeera Lemonade Smoothie but i had no mango or lemons in the fridge, so opted out of it. When i asked my husband, his response in a blink of an eye was : Iced Coffee. Well surely this was not a surprise for me and i was not too interested in making one but with nothing else at disposal, i decided to give it a go !
I quickly gathered the ingredients and blended it together. It was that simple ! It all came together so quickly and made this delightful drink. As i took my first sip, i was suddenly a convert and then i could’nt reason out why i never did this before ! I am thanking my husband right now to have pushed me into making this for him π
